Making Steel Look Like Strength
Amalgam Steel Supplies operates in a trade environment where buyers are experienced, time-poor, and sceptical. A weak sign signals a weak business. The challenge was to create signage that communicated raw authority and product depth from the road — converting drive-by traffic into walk-in customers before a word was spoken.
Product Photography Meets Industrial Typography
We designed a sign that integrates actual product photography — tubes, bars, angles, and hollow sections — directly into the layout. The high-contrast red-on-black palette was chosen for maximum read distance and recall. The result is a sign that functions simultaneously as branding, advertising, and a product catalogue.

Why a Steel Business Can't Afford a Weak Sign
Authority Before You Walk In
In the steel trade, reputation is everything. A generic sign signals a generic business. Amalgam needed signage that communicated raw industrial authority — before a buyer ever made contact.
Product as the Hero
We built the product directly into the sign. Actual imagery of the steel range — tubes, bars, angles, sections — tells the customer exactly what's on offer in a single glance. No guesswork, no wasted attention.
Standing Out on an Industrial Strip
Basalt Avenue is surrounded by trade businesses competing for the same attention. The high-contrast red-on-black treatment cuts through the visual noise and registers from distance — even at road speed.
Built for a Trade Audience
Contractors, builders, and fabricators are time-poor and decision-fast. Bold, no-nonsense signage that delivers the name, the product, and the address instantly is not a luxury — it's a conversion tool.
Every Detail Does a Job
Industrial signage is not decoration. Every element in this sign was engineered to perform a specific marketing function.
High-Contrast Impact
Red on black is one of the most readable colour combinations in signage science. It registers in peripheral vision, reads in direct sunlight, and creates immediate brand recall.
Address as a Call to Action
"5 Basalt Avenue — Amalgam" isn't just contact info. On a sign at this scale, it's a directive. It removes friction and guides trade customers straight to the premises.
Product Photography Integration
Embedding actual steel product imagery in the sign turns it into a catalogue page — visitors know the full range before they arrive, qualifying leads and shortening the sales cycle.
Industrial Brand Equity
Consistent use of this identity across signage, vehicles, and print materials compounds brand equity over time. In an industry built on trust, a recognisable name is a business asset.
